EDMONTON: fire jacket image still drawing international media attention

CNN footage from the scene of a fire at a fuel storage facility in the Ukrainian city of Lviv on Saturday. One firefighter was seen in a coat that said "EDMONTON" on the back -- because it was donated from the Canadian city of Edmonton.

The “EDMONTON” coat was donated to firefighters in Ukraine by firefighters in Edmonton. An Edmonton-based nonprofit called Firefighter Aid Ukraine has donated several hundred sets of Edmonton turnout gear to Ukraine, plus hundreds of additional sets of turnout gear from other communities. The coat was first noticed on CNN when the news article went viral. Conspiracy theorist had a joy ride attacking CNN and making claims that are easily ruled out to be far fetch.

The organization that donated the coats was founded in 2015, known as Firefighter Aid Ukraine has supported Lviv firefighters for years prior to the war starting.
