According to the report filed in the Court of Queen’s Bench, the Edmonton Oilers and their associates have sued at least four insurance companies for exorbitant business losses over the past two years due to the pandemic.

In the past, the Oilers group once took out a so-called “all-risk” insurance policy in order to protect themselves against any business interruption, even for pandemic reasons. The plaintiffs have now refused to fully comply with the terms of the policy. Moreover, the insurers claim as a defense that viruses do not cause physical damage or loss, either material or physical.
