Earlier this month, Brian Jean won the by-election, becoming premier with 63.6% of the vote despite considerable abstention, as voter turnout was 24%. However, residents of Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche placidly see the opportunity to have a premier in the north with the ability to promote economic and commercial momentum, as well as funding for the region’s urbanism and infrastructure projects as primary objectives, and so they place high expectations on Jean’s administration.
