Last Friday, Joe Biden, on a visit to Brussels, announced a major partnership with Europe to address the natural gas crisis and in an attempt to reduce European dependence on Russian energy, as Russia currently supplies about 40% of Europe’s gas.
The agreement is planned to cover around 10% of the total gas Europe buys from Russia, providing at least 15 billion additional cubic meters of fuel by the end of the year. The European Union had already announced in the past that it would limit its dependence on Russian gas as a response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
